Palak Muchhal: How Her Music Helped Fund Over 3,800 Heart Surgeries for Children
For most people, Palak Muchhal is the voice behind songs like “Kaun Tujhe” and “Meri Aashiqui.” But long before she became a familiar voice in Bollywood, she had already decided that her singing would serve a purpose beyond music.
Today, Palak Muchhal and her brother Palash have helped fund more than 3,800 heart surgeries for children from underprivileged families through the Palak Palash Charitable Foundation. In November 2025, her humanitarian work earned recognition in both the Guinness World Records and Limca Book of Records.
The Train Journey That Changed Her Direction

Palak’s connection with charity began when she was still a child.
During a train journey, she encountered underprivileged children, an experience that stayed with her. According to reports about her journey, she made a promise to herself that one day she would help children who were struggling.
That promise soon became more than an intention.
At just seven years old, Palak began using her singing to raise money. During the 1999 Kargil War, she sang at shops in Indore and raised money for the families of soldiers who had died. She later performed to raise funds for victims of the Odisha cyclone.
From One Child to a Mission to Save Little Hearts
One of the biggest turning points came when Palak was asked to help raise money for a young boy named Lokesh, who had a congenital heart defect.
In 2000, she performed a charity show using a street vendor’s cart as a stage and raised money for his surgery. The effort received attention, and cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty eventually operated on Lokesh free of charge. After that, more families with children suffering from heart conditions began approaching the Muchhal family for help.
What began with one child gradually became a structured mission.
Palak and her brother Palash started organising charity performances, with the proceeds being used to support heart surgeries for children whose families could not afford treatment. The initiative became known as “Save Little Hearts” and later operated through the Palak Palash Charitable Foundation.
Her Concerts Became a Way to Fund Surgeries

As Palak’s music career grew, so did the reach of her charitable work.
Her concerts across India and abroad became an important source of funds for the foundation. Reports say that she has continued directing concert earnings and personal resources toward medical assistance for children with heart conditions.
The scale of the mission has changed dramatically over the years.
In 2006, contemporary reports recorded that her foundation had already helped hundreds of children undergo heart surgeries. By 2009, she had conducted more than 1,400 charity shows and helped save the lives of more than 330 children.
By 2025, the number had crossed 3,800 surgeries.
That milestone became the basis for her Guinness World Records recognition, with India Today reporting that she received a Guinness “Hall of Fame” honour for her humanitarian work.
The Mission Went Beyond Heart Surgeries
Palak’s charitable work has not been limited to children with heart conditions.
She also raised funds for families of Kargil martyrs and contributed ₹10 lakh toward relief for victims of the 2001 Gujarat earthquake. Her early charity efforts also included fundraising for victims of the 1999 Odisha cyclone.
This makes her journey different from a one-time philanthropic campaign. The work began before her Bollywood career and continued as her popularity grew.
From a Seven-Year-Old Singer to a Guinness Recognition

Palak eventually became one of Bollywood’s recognised playback singers, with songs including “Kaun Tujhe,” “Meri Aashiqui,” and “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.”
But her charitable mission developed alongside her career rather than after it.
In 2025, reports confirmed that her work had crossed the 3,800-surgery mark and earned recognition from both Guinness World Records and the Limca Book of Records.
Her story is also a reminder of how long-term impact can grow from a very small beginning. A child singing for a cause eventually built a fundraising model that has helped thousands of children access critical heart surgery.
The Savage Humans Take
Palak Muchhal’s story is not simply about a singer who decided to donate money after becoming successful.
Her charitable work began when she was a child, continued while she was building her career, and eventually became a large-scale mission supporting thousands of heart surgeries.
Her music gave her a platform. She chose to use that platform to fund something far more important than applause.
